There are many good ways to remove BOD and TSS from wastewater but TDS is not usually treated unless it is to remove some heavy metals. Other TDS such as Ca, Mg, Cl, Na can all be removed by means of ion exchange systems but in most cases, the process is unnecessary or too expensive. If there are no standards for TDS discharge I would not be concerned. If TDS concentration is mentioned then possibly dilution with other plant waste might be considered.
There are many ways of removing TDS from water. It really depends on your water chemistry. Reverse osmosis is the most common method. Distillation processes like MFD and MED are common in Middle East because of cheap cost of utilities.
