Water well and booster pump run times, which is better long infrequent run times or frequent short runtimes?

You should not exceed 15 cycles per hour (1/h) and only if the pump is able to do that. Typically 6-8 on/off cycles per pump per hour is normal. It is better to have long infrequent run times.
My wells and boosters cycle 5 or 6 times a day
If your booster pump(s) are rated "continuous duty" they should run longer and cycle less. this gives the motor time to warm up to operating temperature and be more efficient.
