Stale air scrubbers and carbon monoxide
asked 13 September 2016 asked by Céline ( points)
Hello, We encountered this problem in a confined space operation. It turned out to be the exhaust from the trucks used in the reagent unloading and sludge discharging areas. The presence of CO indicates there is incomplete combustion. The presence of CO also interferes with H2S electrochemical sensors in the scrubbers. My advice is to carefully check your gas detector. Make sure it isn’t being affected by any other compounds. Afterwards you can confirm the readings with a Drager test tube. http://www.draeger.com/Sites/enus_us/Pages/Mining/Draeger-Short-term-Tubes.aspxtube.
