Refractory chemical oxygen demand in a wastewater treatment plant

Hello, You have to treat biological contaminants at the source, i.e., in the restaurants, because treating refractory COD itself is expensive, so best to tackle smaller quantities where they occur... As for existing treatments (non-exhaustive list), you can adsorb it using activated carbon or use a strong oxidizing agent like ozone, potassium permanganate, or peroxide (check with local authorities to determine how much you can store on site). You should do some pilot testing to determine optimal treatment, because cost is a significant factor! Good luck!
