Problem of high concentration of ammonium in an aeration tank

Hi, The aeration tank is in the phase where organic nitrogen is being transformed in to ammonium NH4+. A malfunction likely occurred in the aeration or the turbine on/off cycle (or with the air intake). You can test this theory by looking at the biological sludge. A strong odor and black color would confirm a lack of oxygen or too high a sludge concentration, which would point to a problem with the sludge wasting rate.
How do you measure the ammonium in your aeration tank?
