Identifying source of increased COD

Do you have a list of “usual suspects” that could give us an idea of what type of product to focus on? What is the order of magnitude of your recent COD levels vs. what is normal?
COD rose from approximately 150 mg/L to 2000 mg/L on an industrial water circuit of approximately 4000 m3 (storage + circulation). It's a pretty complex operation to describe in detail. And the list of potential contaminants is quite long, so my question really centers on: If one detects a COD overrun, for example, without knowing the actual origin of the problem, is there an analytical method that can be performed using an external lab?
Hello, If you really want to specifically identify compounds, you need to collect samples and have them analyzed using mass spectrometry. That will give you the images and compounds, but it is very expensive.
