I need to measure the flow rate of my pumps to determine wear and tear and plan refurbishments. The discharge pipes are stainless steel, and I am told that magnetic meters do not provide accurate readings when using this material. I would like to know what other option is available to me.
Hi @whater , “Accurate” is a relative concept. Have you checked the features of the equipment in relation to your needs and budget?A good option for you would be ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters. There are various models. Some can be attached on the outside of the pipe with the advantage of being non-intrusive.
Indeed, you have several options: the electromagnetic flow meters are perfectly suited to this type of situation, but they do involve online installation of the sensor. As for the so-called clamp-on ultrasonic devices, they are actually installed outside the pipes. This technology allows you to perform continuous monitoring or as-needed measurements.
